Jenny brown

Jenny’s research focusses on three distinct areas: community involvement and inclusiveness, extension of mediums used and environmental sensitivity.

The first ten years of Jenny’s practice was emancipatory in character where effects extended beyond the bounds of particular fields. This work was made outside the gallery that provided a context for exploring issues relevant to that area whilst working with particular groups of people experiencing disadvantage. Small and large scale participatory public art works and performances, and documentation projects of these were created. These projects have received local, state and/or federal funding.

Over the past three years Jenny’s work has continued to explore new possibilities in the articulation of critique from both within and outside the art field.

Jenny is currently completing a Doctorate of Philosophy in Fine Art at Sydney College for the Arts, University of Sydney. Jenny is employed as the regional cultural worker for Western Sydney (1.85 million people).
